Description An attempt is made to provide perspective on the current status with regard to two constructs, i.e. job involvement and career anchors. A study is described in which the level of job involvement and the career orientations of 1791 professionals, engaged in 14 professions in South Africa, were measured. A postulated relationship between job involvement and career orientations was tested. Multiple regression was used to develop models of career orientation scores as predictors of job involvement level. Significant levels of prediction were obtained for all 14 professions, with a prediction of 25/3 of the variance in level of job involvement obtained for the sample as a whole.
