Description Bone marrow transplantation is the preferred form of treatment for patients with severe acute aplastic anaemia and immunodeficiency disease. The procedure has also been used in the treatment of patients with refractory or relapsed acute leukaemia and may result in further disease-free periods in excess of two years in approximately 15% of such individuals.
