The distribution patterns of species in these marshes are described and compared with patterns found in other marshes in the Western Cape. The marshes might superficially resemble a mosaic of species, but each element of the mosaic could be compared with vegetation in other systems. Peculiar salinity and tidal features are postulated as having a great influence on species distributions at this river. | |
