Description The process of sexual nuclear division in authentic isolates of Neocosmospora vasinfecta E. F. Smith, N. africana Von Arx and a related species isolated from soybean was studied. No significant differences were found. Six chromosomes were counted in each isolate. There was no evidence of aneuploidy or irregular reconstitution of daughter nuclei. The divisions leading to the formation of binucleate, homokaryotic ascospores were typically meiotic.
