Description Die moontlikheid van ’n elektrostatiese sensor vir die meet van ’n vliegtuig se bewegingshoeke gedurende vlug is al in November 1972 deur M.L.Hill genoem. Hy was destyds verbonde aan die John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Maryland, VSA. During flight large voltage differences can develop between isolated sensors on the wingtips of an aircraft. This is as a result of charge differences in the atmosphere under the influence of the earth's electrostatic field. These charge differences can be utilised for aircraft attitude measurements. An electrostatic sensor has been developed to measure these charge differences.
