| Description | As a result of an increasing interest in mushrooms and demand for information on South African species, a list is provided of 106 species of the Order Agaricales, excluding the Polyporaceae, that have been recorded to date in the municipal areas of Pretoria, Pretoria North and Verwoerdburg. Twenty of the most common species are briefly described and illustrated. The occurence of mushrooms in this area is compared with their occurrence and distribution in other regions of South Africa. It is hoped that this information may serve as a basis for similar studies of the mushroom floras of other regions in order to extend the knowledge of the mushroom flora of South Africa. In reaksie op die toenemetide belangstelling in sampioene en die vraag na inligting oor Suid-Afrikaanse sampioene, word 'n lys van name van 106 spesies van die OrdeAgaricales (Polyporaceae uitgesluit) wat tot hede in die munisipale gebiede van Pretoria, Pretoria-Noord en Verwoerdburg aangetref is, hier voorsien. Twintig van die algemeenste spesies word kortliks beskryf en geïllustreer. Die voorkoms van sampioene in hierdie gebied word vergelyk met die voorkoms en verspreiding van sampioene in ander streke van Suid-Afrika. Daar word gehoop dat hierdie inligting as basis mag dien vir verdere soortgelyke streeksgebonde studies ten einde 'n meer omvattende kennis oor die sampioenflora van Suid-Afrika op te bou. | |
