Macchiademus diplopterus is a pest of wheat in South Africa. Large numbers of insects were collected from underneath exfoliating bark of Eucalyptus spp. growing near wheat fields in the Western Cape Province during January to March 1995. Volatile substances were collected with charcoal or Ambersorb as trapping agent. The adsorbent and the appropriate controls were eluted sequentially with dichloromethane and benzene.
