Creator | Helberg, J. L. | |
Description | Different opinions exist about the question whether righteousness or justice faedeqj in the Old Testament is to be understood juristically or soteriologically. In this article an attempt is made to explore the basis and driving force of the demand for justice in the time of the Great Prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel). It is stressed that righteousness does not merely have a juristic or soteriological character, nor does it merely express loyalty to the community, but that it is a covenantal and kingdom concept. The typical approach of the different Great Prophets as well as the communal aspect in their approach will be discussed. | |
