Description South African radiologists performing interventional and angiographic procedures are at risk of occupational exposure to hepatitis Band C and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Simple precautions reduce this risk substantially. It is important that radiologists and personnel working in the interventional suite are aware of the risk of infection, how to reduce the risk and how to prevent seroconversion after needle stick injuries.
