Description The term bioptemes is applied to explain the ‘impossible’ communication in the postmodern text. The topological processes in the postmodern text whereby 'normal' boundaries (like those between fiction and reality) are transgressed, make it possible to communicate beyond these so-called borders. The 'conversation’ is carried on in a bioptemie way. Bioptemie interaction is found when the output affects the input: the character rebels against the author, the imbedded text affects the primary text, and the discourses in the text are mutually affected, which often results in the forming of a new discourse. The bioptemes encourage the transgression process and this stresses the necessity to surpass existing modes of thought. Texts included in this study are Theresa se droom (Fransi Phillips), "Die Bruid" (A.H. de Vries) and Louoond (Jeanne Goosen).
