In the first place the author gives a description of what König rejects: a deterministic approach to providence as found in the thoughts of Calvin and Arminius. This overview is followed by an exposition of what König recommends: an eschatological, covenantal explanation of God’s providence. In the last section an attempt is made to evaluate König’s proposal – an evaluation in which both appreciation as well as criticism is expressed. It is very clear that this new proposal of König will precipitate an intense theological debate. | |
