Description Comments on the status of nature conservation in an area require an evaluation of progress. Apart from ad hoc nature conservation actions taken in the past by the agricultural and administrative staff of the Department of Bantu Administration and Development (hereafter called the Department) and of the governments of the various developing territories, or homelands, the more formal and specialised nature conservation action by these bodies started almost exactly three years.
