Description This article deals with issues regarding the interpretation of Scripture. The first issue dealt with concerns the relationship between revelation and experience. Several modern models for this relationship are discussed critically. In this article a salvation-historical model is proposed - a model in which the terms de- contextualising and recontextualising are used. Both terms are interpreted with in an ethical context. The main stand taken is that revelation is intended to be 'experienced', but our experience is not a substantial part of revelation. The relationship of revelation and experience is characterised by an 'in order'- structure. This view implies that the character of revelation is communicative, although revelation is independent of our experience. In the article an attempt is made to outline the pneumatological character of the hermeneutics of the Reformation.
