Description Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of inter-organisational information and communication technology on supply chain resilience and supply chain performance. The study emphasises the mediating role of inter-organisational trust and the moderating effect of organisational flexibility.Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts a quantitative research design using a cross-sectional survey method. Data were collected from supply chain managers across various industries to ensure diversity and enable a comprehensive analysis. The relationships between inter-organisational information and communication technology, supply chain resilience and supply chain performance were examined, with inter-organisational trust as a mediator and organisational flexibility as a moderator.Findings/results: The findings indicate that inter-organisational information and communication technology significantly enhances both supply chain performance and resilience. Inter-organisational trust was found to act as a complementary mediator in the relationships between inter-organisational information and communication technology, supply chain performance and supply chain resilience.Practical implications: The results highlight the importance of managers embracing a comprehensive strategy that combines technology, trust and adaptability to improve supply chain results. By emphasising these factors, managers can develop robust and efficient supply chains that are equipped to handle the complexities of a fluctuating and uncertain business landscape.Originality/value: This study suggests that managers should strategically implement technologies aligned with their organisation’s supply chain strategies. Additionally, managers should develop practical competencies to facilitate the effective and comprehensive utilisation of these technologies within the broader organisational context. This approach can enable organisations to build stronger supply chain networks, enhance resilience, and improve overall performance.
